A new Shari Low book is always a reason to celebrate! It’s like getting together with friends you haven’t seen for a long time, and picking up where you left off, like you saw other just yesterday!

Blurb:
Would you give up your dreams for love?
1990: In a hot, humid Hong Kong summer, three young singers are loving life, performing to packed crowds every night in a swanky hotel bar. Twenty-three-year-old Scottish songbird, Moira Chiles is living the dream alongside Carina Lloyd and Lisa Dixon. They work hard, play hard, and always stick together… until one day Moira has to make a choice that changes everything.
Fast forward to…
2025: In a wet, chilly, Glasgow summer, Moira has just retired after singing in Glasgow pubs and Caribbean cruise ships for three decades. Now she’s ready for a new adventure – one that takes her to Hong Kong to revisit a world she left behind. Moira hasn’t seen Carina or Lisa for over thirty years, but will an invitation to join her on a holiday of a lifetime rekindle the friendships that changed her life? Or will stepping back in time expose secrets that could break their hearts?
My Review:
Once again, Shari Lowe delivers a gorgeous read that will immediately have readers immersed from page one.
The story alternates between 1990, when Moira, Carina (Posh Pal) and Lisa first met and became firm friends during their chaotic, heady younger years in Hong Kong, and present day when a long-delayed reunion doesn’t quite go according to plan.
Its a surprise when Stevie, Lisa’s daughter arrives, having absolutely no knowledge of her mother’s former wild life before settling down to become a mum. All she’s ever known is the quiet, protective, introverted, practically friendless woman she grew up with. It’s a complete shock to discover that her mother was an entirely different person in the past.
As we navigate the new journey that these women find themselves on – back in the same place where they met, but under such different circumstances – we can’t help but take ourselves on our own little reminiscent paths back into the past. Would we do things differently? Do we wish that our lives had intersected with other people than the ones who we find ourselves with today? Would we rather be someplace else?
Shari Lowe is a master at weaving together all the elements that create deep, lasting connections: warmth, understanding, empathy and connection. And she does it here, once again with (seemingly effortless) style.
I can’t wait to meet up with some of these characters again. I have no doubt we will!
