This is an extremely cleverly constructed book, told from the perspectives of the suave, mysterious Oliver and all those who have come into contact with him and his mousey wife Alice, at various stages of their lives. Oliver’s deep psychological trauma’s stem from the unimaginable and traumatic neglect he experienced as a child. We discover just how manipulative, cruel and controlling he really can be as we ‘unravel’ his complex personality, leading to the horrific act that he commits at the start of the book.
