BLOG TOUR – Scoop Dreams: Fernleigh Bay by Jessica Hale

Because sometimes you need to take a break from psychological thrillers, police procedurals, true-crime documentaries and the general chaos of everyday life!

Blurb:

Fernleigh Bay wasn’t ready for pastel-pink ice cream van Scoops or it’s owner, Melody.

Following in her Grandmothers footsteps, Melody wants to bring ice cream to the community she visited as a child but between council red tape, frosty locals, and sabotage, her whimsical business idea melts faster than a 99 on a hot day.

As summer unfolds, Scoops becomes more than just an ice cream van—it’s a place of comfort, connection, and unexpected friendships. With each swirl and sprinkle, Melody helps to rebuild a community, one cone at a time.

A feel-good, uplifting novella about resilience, community, and finding joy in unexpected places.

My Review:

I thoroughly enjoyed this short read about Melody, her ice cream van, Scoops, and her goal of creating a business out of her Grandmother’s well-loved ice cream recipes, and of settling down in Fernleigh Bay which holds so many of her precious childhood memories.

Suffice to say, things don’t go according to plan when the welcome she receives is far colder than the ice cream she serves! The iceberg was warmer and fuzzier towards the Titanic than the locals of Fernleigh Bay are to Melody. Despite the many obstacles that continue to be placed in her way though, she is determined to make things work, and to continue her Grandmother’s legacy.

She remembers this community as being a happier one in times gone by, but this isn’t what she’s seeing here today. It’s somehow become dispirited and fractured and she slowly comes to understand where these fault lines are originating from. Melody is resolute in her decision to not only make her business work, but to bring this community back together, back to the unified, happy place that she remembers.

This is a debut book from this author, and the first in this series. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for the residents of Fernleigh Bay. Jessica Hale has created such likeable, vivid characters, and she writes with empathy about the very real fears of the older generation, who have genuine concerns about the effects that change will have on their lives. Without being preachy, she displays how their opinions and harsh judgements of younger people are so often clouded by these fears. Melody and her mouthwatering ice creams are the perfect catalysts to bridge the gap!

Scoop Dreams is a delightful read! Thank you so much to brand new publishers, Acorn & Ink and to Love Books Tours for the Blog Tour!
